Linh Quang Pagoda (Linh Quang Tu) is the first temple on Phu Quy island. Linh Quang Pagoda was known 272 years ago. It is the oldest temple on Phu Quy island in particular, on islands in Vietnam in general.
At first, this place was just a cottage built by Zen master Nguyen Van Canh in 1747. Used to worship and as a residence for monks. Later, through many renovations until 1992, it became a unique and beautiful architectural complex.

The pagoda includes areas such as: Main hall, Tam Quan gate, Assembly hall and Sangha house.
In front of the temple, there is a very high floor. On the roofs of these ancient floors are delicately carved two dragon paintings and phoenix dragons. This is also the special highlight of the temple.
At the pagoda, there is a majestic 9-storey tower that reflects itself under the sea. The tower is 27m high, the octagonal shape is quite large, so you can see the tower in any position in the sea or on the island.
The large perimeter of the tower, combined with the sharp, sophisticated architecture and details here create the attention of tourists when coming to the pearl island of Phu Quy.
Especially, when standing at the top floor of “Bao Phap Linh Quang”, everyone can see all the space in Phu Quy in the clearest way.

In addition to the large Buddha statues, in the temple there are also 5 titles of the kings of the Nguyen Dynasty which are carefully preserved.
The number of heritages and artifacts handed over to Nguyen Khac by the ancestor is very large and rare. According to the recorded genealogy, there are: “3 sets of scriptures, 12 bronze statues of Guan Yin, 1 statue of Shakyamuni and 1 wooden statue of Ji Tzu, 1 bronze bell, 19 porcelain plates, 10 porcelain cups, 6 porcelain collar…
At the end of the 18th century, a sudden fire burned down the pagoda, most of the precious heritages were burned, leaving only a few bronze Buddha statues that are still burnt today. old left.

Among the most carefully kept treasures at Linh Quang Tu must be mentioned the box containing the ordination of the Nguyen kings given to the pagoda. There are 5 colors in total, in which, during the reign of King Tu Duc, he conferred 2 colors, King Dong Khanh awarded 1 color, Duy Tan 1 color and Khai Dinh 1 color. All 5 gods are stamped “Sac network chi bao” of the Nguyen Dynasty. Up to now, the spirit is still intact, every year when there are new great rituals given when the ceremony is done.
Linh Quang Pagoda not only has a beautiful view but also is the place where major festivals on the island take place. Every year, this place always celebrates rituals on Buddha’s Birthday, Vu Lan Festival or Thanh Minh Festival…

It can be said that Linh Quang Pagoda is one of the temples that has been closely associated with the life, activities, spirituality and beliefs of the people here.
Linh Quang Pagoda was ranked as a national landscape by the Ministry of Culture and Information in Decision No. 51 QD/BT dated January 12, 1996.
